SECURITY ATLAS / EVALUATION BRIEF Aqua Security Research reviewed: 2026-10-18 https://atlasofsecurity.com/landscape/vendors/aqua-security/ THE ATLAS TAKE Aqua deserves a close evaluation when container and cloud workload security must progress from identifying a risky artifact to controlling an action in production. Its current material puts deployment gates and local runtime enforcement at the center of that story. Atlas would evaluate those as separate control points: one prevents an unsuitable artifact from being deployed, while another constrains behavior after deployment. The demanding work is policy calibration, supported workload coverage, installation authority, and safe recovery from a bad rule. A scanning result, an open-source project, and an installed enterprise enforcement capability should not be treated as the same purchased control. SCOPE The platform documents several deployment and workload patterns, but coverage must be confirmed for the chosen environment. Image scanning, pipeline controls and runtime enforcement require different integrations; product assurances or authorization claims should not replace a scoped technical evaluation. WORTH A LOOK WHEN Platform teams that own container delivery and production workload policy and can stage enforcement with application owners. THINK TWICE WHEN The requirement is an assessment-only deployment with no authority to install, integrate, or maintain the enforcement points required by the intended control. IMPLEMENTATION 1. Select two explicit control points Choose one delivery gate and one runtime policy for a representative containerized application. 2. Establish a legitimate baseline Observe normal startup, updates, maintenance, and application behavior before activating a restrictive rule. 3. Stage enforcement and rollback Use a narrow workload group, documented exceptions, an authorized policy owner, and a rehearsed recovery process. OPERATING REALITY Platform engineers maintain pipeline and workload integrations; application owners help distinguish legitimate behavior from unwanted execution; security teams govern policy and exceptions. Atlas would give policy rollback and disconnected behavior the same attention as a successful block. Prevention in a demonstration is insufficient if operators cannot safely update or remove a rule during an application change. COMMERCIAL CONSIDERATIONS Request the exact platform, scanning, deployment-control, and runtime-enforcement entitlement and deployment model. Public product pages do not establish a universal price or counting unit. - Selected enterprise capabilities and supported workload population - Pipeline, orchestrator, and runtime integration work - Policy engineering, support, deployment services, and retained evidence EVALUATION PLAN / PROPOSED TESTS, NOT COMPLETED RESULTS 1. Prove the deployment gate Acceptance evidence: Attempt to deploy a deliberately disallowed harmless lab artifact and show the admission result and unchanged production state. Owner: __________ Pass criterion: __________ Observed result: __________ Evidence location: __________ 2. Prove an actual runtime denial Acceptance evidence: Run a vendor-supported benign policy fixture; retain the attempted action, local outcome, alert, and unaffected legitimate task. Owner: __________ Pass criterion: __________ Observed result: __________ Evidence location: __________ 3. Recover from an overbroad rule Acceptance evidence: Intentionally restrict a required lab behavior, then demonstrate approved rollback, auditability, and restored application health. Owner: __________ Pass criterion: __________ Observed result: __________ Evidence location: __________ QUESTIONS FOR THE VENDOR - Which supported component enforces the pipeline rule and which supplies runtime evidence? - What privileges and compatibility constraints apply in the selected cluster or disconnected environment? - How are exceptions approved so a false detection does not silently block an essential application release? EVIDENCE GAPS - The accessible sources are product and integration material; exact component privileges, compatibility, offline behavior, and entitlements require current technical documentation. - No independent prevention, application-compatibility, performance, or sensor-overhead benchmark was produced.
