SECURITY ATLAS / EVALUATION BRIEF Google Security Command Center Research reviewed: 2026-10-18 https://atlasofsecurity.com/landscape/vendors/google-security-command-center/ THE ATLAS TAKE Security Command Center remains a natural evaluation starting point for Google Cloud posture and threat findings, but the tier transition materially changes a current purchase or renewal. Google now marks Enterprise deprecated, with shutdown on or after 21 May 2027 and a default move to Premium. Separate deprecation notices also affect particular capabilities. Atlas would make preservation of the required detection, export, and response workflows the center of the evaluation. A historical Enterprise feature list is insufficient evidence for the future design, and Google ownership of Wiz does not establish that Wiz capabilities are automatically included in Security Command Center. SCOPE Confirm the activation scope and target tier. Enterprise is deprecated with shutdown on or after 21 May 2027 and a default move to Premium. Verify separately affected features and future integrations; Wiz is a separate product. WORTH A LOOK WHEN Google Cloud teams that need native security findings and can validate the exact Standard or Premium scope against an organization-wide operating model. THINK TWICE WHEN A new design relies on the deprecated Enterprise tier or assumes existing multicloud and integrated response capabilities survive the tier change unchanged. IMPLEMENTATION 1. Freeze the required service list Inventory current tier, activation scope, detectors, exports, data retention, and integrations; mark dependencies on deprecated features. 2. Test the target tier Repeat a representative finding and export workflow using the supported future configuration rather than a historical Enterprise demonstration. 3. Rehearse the evidence transition Preserve findings and operational configuration in a durable format and assign responsibility for any replacement control. OPERATING REALITY Administrators own activation scope, service permissions, finding exports, and the downstream response process. Cloud resource owners must remediate underlying configuration rather than merely mute a finding. Existing Enterprise customers also need a migration owner who can account for retained evidence, supported integrations, and feature changes before the shutdown date. COMMERCIAL CONSIDERATIONS The pricing page distinguishes no-charge Standard and paid Premium models, with subscription or usage-based arrangements depending on activation scope. Reconcile the quote with the published tier transition. - Project versus organization activation and selected paid tier - Subscription commitments or usage-based Google Cloud resource meters - Indirect scanning, logging, export, and downstream response costs EVALUATION PLAN / PROPOSED TESTS, NOT COMPLETED RESULTS 1. Inventory deprecated dependencies Acceptance evidence: Map each required control to a current service and its published shutdown status; obtain an owner-approved replacement for every affected dependency. Owner: __________ Pass criterion: __________ Observed result: __________ Evidence location: __________ 2. Prove target-tier finding export Acceptance evidence: Capture a benign test finding, source resource, export payload, access controls, and successful downstream ownership in the proposed tier. Owner: __________ Pass criterion: __________ Observed result: __________ Evidence location: __________ 3. Distinguish muted and remediated findings Acceptance evidence: Mute a nonproduction finding, then fix the source condition and reassess; preserve the different states and timestamps. Owner: __________ Pass criterion: __________ Observed result: __________ Evidence location: __________ QUESTIONS FOR THE VENDOR - Which existing workflows depend on Enterprise-only capabilities or the retiring DSPM feature? - Will the proposed replacement preserve the required finding export and operational workflow? - Is the selected Kubernetes view the posture service itself or a separate dashboard with different requirements? EVIDENCE GAPS - No independent effectiveness or continuity test across the Enterprise-to-Premium transition was performed. - Pricing and marketing pages can retain historical Enterprise descriptions; the current deprecation register and written migration terms must govern planning.
