SECURITY ATLAS / EVALUATION BRIEF Okta for AI Agents Research reviewed: 2026-10-18 https://atlasofsecurity.com/landscape/vendors/okta-for-ai-agents/ THE ATLAS TAKE Okta for AI Agents is worth evaluating when agents should become managed identities with explicit resource access rather than invisible extensions of shared user credentials. The documentation lays out discovery, registration, connection and governance as distinct steps, which is a useful deployment model. Atlas would make least privilege and deactivation behavior observable at the target application. A managed identity is necessary context, but it does not by itself determine whether every permitted tool action fits a user’s task. Auth0 developer tooling and other identity products also need their own scope and entitlement review. SCOPE Evaluate agent identities and resource connections for the selected Okta edition. Auth0 developer tooling has a separate scope and is not automatically included. WORTH A LOOK WHEN Identity teams adopting the documented Okta agent model for supported applications and connected resources. THINK TWICE WHEN The requirement is content inspection or universal task-intent authorization without resource integration. IMPLEMENTATION 1. Select a supported resource Choose one application, a disposable agent and a named owner with a narrowly defined task. 2. Map delegated and agent authority Record where user context, agent identity and resource permissions influence the access decision. 3. Exercise the full lifecycle Test activation, permission reduction and deactivation against fresh requests and existing credentials/sessions, retaining resource evidence. OPERATING REALITY Identity administrators maintain agent registration, ownership and resource connections, while application owners verify effective permissions. The lifecycle process must account for issued credentials and existing sessions. System Log evidence should be correlated with resource-side access so an administrative deactivation is not mistaken for complete revocation without a test. COMMERCIAL CONSIDERATIONS Confirm the selected Okta edition and agent/resource capabilities, including governance requirements. Separate Auth0 or developer tooling and include application-connection engineering. - Selected Okta edition and agent scope - Resource connections and governance entitlements - Application integration and lifecycle operations EVALUATION PLAN / PROPOSED TESTS, NOT COMPLETED RESULTS 1. Register a disposable agent and connect one resource Acceptance evidence: Keep identity, owner and configured access evidence. Owner: __________ Pass criterion: __________ Observed result: __________ Evidence location: __________ 2. Reduce a safe permission Acceptance evidence: Verify the required task works and the removed operation is denied. Owner: __________ Pass criterion: __________ Observed result: __________ Evidence location: __________ 3. Deactivate the test agent Acceptance evidence: Check new requests and already issued access separately against target logs. Owner: __________ Pass criterion: __________ Observed result: __________ Evidence location: __________ QUESTIONS FOR THE VENDOR - How is delegated user context represented? - Which resource connections are supported? - Does deactivation remove active resource access? EVIDENCE GAPS - Atlas has not independently tested revocation timing or connector completeness. - Confirm resource types, delegated-context support and exact edition requirements.
