SECURITY ATLAS / EVALUATION BRIEF Tenable One Cloud Exposure Research reviewed: 2026-10-18 https://atlasofsecurity.com/landscape/vendors/tenable-cloud-security/ THE ATLAS TAKE Tenable now presents this capability under Tenable One Cloud Exposure, extending the Cloud Security lineage into broader exposure context. Its identity and entitlement emphasis makes it worth examining when excessive cloud permissions are central to the risk program. Atlas would evaluate whether one risky identity-to-resource path can be explained, approved, changed, and reassessed without breaking legitimate application work. The broader platform also advertises posture, workload, data, and runtime capabilities, but the proposed order form and collection architecture must establish which are actually present. An existing vulnerability-management deployment does not settle those additional entitlements. SCOPE This profile covers the documented Cloud Security and Cloud Exposure capability areas. Verify selected modules, cloud connectors and runtime requirements. Existing Tenable vulnerability-management coverage does not automatically establish cloud entitlement, container or runtime visibility. WORTH A LOOK WHEN Cloud and identity teams that can turn entitlement analysis and exposure context into approved changes to permissions and critical cloud resources. THINK TWICE WHEN The team expects cloud entitlement and runtime coverage to follow automatically from an existing Tenable vulnerability-management subscription. IMPLEMENTATION 1. Choose one critical cloud resource Identify its service owner, administrative identities, automation paths, and the evidence that access is actually required. 2. Verify entitlement evidence Review connector permissions and explain both a direct permission and a transitive access route with the resource owner. 3. Stage a least-privilege change Apply a reversible approved change, validate legitimate application behavior, and confirm that the original path updates after reassessment. OPERATING REALITY Cloud administrators maintain connector authority, asset identity, and permission context; application owners validate whether proposed access changes preserve necessary work. Security teams govern exceptions and reassessment. Atlas would require every significant graph relationship to have an explainable source, especially when the proposed fix removes privileges used by an application or automation identity. COMMERCIAL CONSIDERATIONS Request the current Cloud Exposure package and applicable asset-counting policy. Include collection, identity features, and any workload or runtime capability separately in the commercial assumptions. - Contracted cloud assets and the applicable counting policy - Purchased cloud, entitlement, workload, or exposure capabilities - Connector maintenance, permissions engineering, and professional services EVALUATION PLAN / PROPOSED TESTS, NOT COMPLETED RESULTS 1. Explain a transitive access path Acceptance evidence: Keep the cloud policy, role relationships, resource configuration, graph evidence, and owner confirmation for every material edge. Owner: __________ Pass criterion: __________ Observed result: __________ Evidence location: __________ 2. Reduce privilege without breaking work Acceptance evidence: Remove an unnecessary permission in a test identity and demonstrate both loss of excess access and completion of the permitted task. Owner: __________ Pass criterion: __________ Observed result: __________ Evidence location: __________ 3. Reconcile asset lifecycle Acceptance evidence: Create and terminate a lab resource, record discovery and refresh behavior, and explain the license effect under the governing agreement. Owner: __________ Pass criterion: __________ Observed result: __________ Evidence location: __________ QUESTIONS FOR THE VENDOR - Which selected functions require separate modules or additional cloud permissions? - What actual runtime signals and response actions are available for the workload being evaluated? - Can the operator explain the evidence behind prioritization and export it for an independent review? EVIDENCE GAPS - The public Cloud Exposure and CIEM pages establish advertised scope; authenticated connector and runtime support details still require confirmation. - No independent measurement of attack-path accuracy, privilege-reduction safety, sensor overhead, or cost was performed.
