The Atlas take.
Rubrik Agent Cloud is worth examining when the organization needs to connect agent actions with sensitive data and a practical remediation story. Agent Monitor supplies the inventory and audit proposition, while governance and Agent Rewind address different control questions. Atlas would insist on proving those separately. Seeing an action is not the same as preventing it, and recovering a deleted object requires a supported system and usable preserved state. The strongest demonstration combines a complete trace with a narrowly scoped restoration that preserves unrelated legitimate work, rather than promising a universal undo button.
02 / DEFINE THE BOUNDARY
What you are actually evaluating.
Verify Agent Monitor, enforcement and remediation as separate functions. Recovery requires supported data systems and preserved state; monitoring alone cannot undo an action.
Rubrik’s distinguishing evaluation angle is the connection between agent activity and recoverable data state. Agent Cloud’s monitoring and governance should be tested independently from Agent Rewind. Recovery is useful when the affected system and prior state are actually supported and preserved.

- Generally available
Rubrik announced Agent Cloud generally available February 18, 2026. Confirm monitoring, governance, and recovery entitlement separately; Agent Rewind requires supported protected data and recoverable prior state.
03 / THE CONTROL PATH
Where it sits. How it works.
Atlas architecture interpretation: agent observation provides a causal trace, selected governance may control interactions, and separately supported recovery correlates an unwanted change with preserved data state.
- 01
Agent task, identity and data interaction
Record the supported integration and the specific tools and objects visible to monitoring.
- 02
Monitor and selected governance
Inspect the action chain and separately verify any configured policy interception.
- 03
Supported Agent Rewind recovery
Identify a usable healthy snapshot/backup and restore only the supported affected data or configuration.
Gateway for custom agent stacks
The announcement describes a standalone AI gateway for open-source frameworks such as LangChain and direct LLM calls. Confirm the route, authentication, and observability coverage for the agent’s tools as well as model requests.
Backend and endpoint integrations
Rubrik describes backend connections for low-code platforms such as Copilot Studio and endpoint discovery. Agent Monitor names several builders; require the current connector matrix and permissions for the selected environment.
Availability and recovery entitlement
Rubrik announced Agent Cloud generally available on February 18, 2026. Verify the included monitoring, governance, and recovery modules separately, along with protected workloads, retention, and the backup prerequisites for Rewind.
04 / WHAT EARNS ITS PLACE
Strengths, with the evidence attached.
Atlas analysis of documented capabilities; availability and behavior depend on the edition and environment.
Observability follows the action chain
Agent Monitor describes tracking agents, data, tools and identities, supplying a concrete trace-completeness test.
Remediation has a preserved-state concept
The GA announcement connects Agent Rewind with healthy snapshots and examples of supported data recovery.
Inspect the documented capability notes
Evidence reviewed: February 18 general-availability announcement and Agent Monitor product description, including monitoring, governance, and backup-dependent recovery.
Dynamic agent registry and risk context
Agent Monitor describes connecting builders such as OpenAI, Copilot Studio, and Amazon Bedrock to ingest agents into a registry. The launch also describes creation, usage, and risk profiling.
Data-aware interaction history
Monitoring links active agents to identities, accessed data, and called tools. The product describes an immutable audit trail spanning prompts, calls, and access, helping investigators reconstruct the decision sequence.
Prompt and tool-call governance
The launch describes out-of-the-box controls such as PII detection and natural-language custom policies applied to prompts, responses, and tool calls. Verify the selected policy’s actual enforcement point and action.
Agent Rewind and preserved state
The launch describes correlating an unwanted action with a previous healthy snapshot, with database and Salesforce recovery examples. The relevant dependency is existing backup coverage and a supported recovery workflow.
05 / KNOW THE COMPROMISES
The tradeoffs to take seriously.
Architectural implications and procurement questions from Atlas; these are not independently measured product failures.
Additional coverage boundaries
- An audit trail does not reverse an action. External side effects such as an already sent message, public disclosure, or a third-party API operation may require compensating actions rather than backup restore.
- Restore granularity and consistency matter: recovering one record, an entire database, and several coordinated systems are different procedures with different disruption risks.
- Confirm gateway failover, log access and retention, recovery permissions, supported applications, snapshot freshness, and the commercial relationship to existing Rubrik protection licenses.
06 / FROM PURCHASE TO PRACTICE
Make it work in your environment.
A proposed implementation sequence. Confirm supported versions, permissions, and rollback with the current documentation.
- 01
Define one observable task
Use a synthetic application and document agent, user, tools and data objects that should appear in the trace.
- 02
Confirm recoverable state first
Verify the target system, protected object and usable prior state before deliberately making a harmless change.
- 03
Separate prevention and restoration
Test a policy decision and a recovery operation independently, with explicit approvers and evidence for both.
07 / THE OPERATING COMMITMENT
The bill is only part of the cost.
Commercial shape
Quote Agent Monitor, governance and Agent Rewind functions separately, including required data-protection services. Include instrumentation, backup retention and data-owner recovery operations.
- Covered agents/interactions and selected functions
- Required supported data-protection systems and retained state
- Integration, recovery testing and operator responsibilities
08 / COMPARE THE JOB
Other ways to address the risk.
These adjacent approaches work at different control points. They are useful architectural choices to understand, rather than direct replacements.
Zenity AI Agent Security Platform
Compare inventory and posture/observability only; it is not an equivalent data-recovery proposition.
Noma SecurityNoma AI Agent Security Platform
Compare discovery and selected runtime controls separately; require another supported recovery design for unwanted data changes.
09 / MAKE THE DECISION OBSERVABLE
Earn confidence through a real evaluation.
Suggested by Atlas. Agree acceptance criteria, use synthetic fixtures in an authorized environment, and capture both useful work and failed controls.
- TEST 01
Trace a safe synthetic agent data change
Acceptance evidence: Keep user request, tool call, object identity and target audit.
- TEST 02
Attempt one configured policy denial
Acceptance evidence: Verify enforcement timing separately from monitoring.
- TEST 03
Perform a supported granular restore after a harmless deletion
Acceptance evidence: Preserve the prior backup/snapshot, restored object and evidence that unrelated legitimate changes remain intact.
START WITH ONE EXERCISE
A test agent modifies a fictional customer record outside its assigned case.
Evidence to look for: Retain the action trace, intervention result and verified restored record state.
Questions to bring to the vendor
- Which actions can be stopped before execution?
- Which systems support restoration after an agent change?
- What snapshot or backup must already exist?
10 / SHOW THE WORK
Evidence, and what is still unknown.
What this research cannot establish
- Atlas has not independently verified trace completeness, prevention or recovery speed.
- Confirm exact supported recovery systems, object granularity and required preserved-state entitlements.
